BEAUTY Friday 4’s

October 19, 2007

I decided to copy the idea of the Friday 5’s but instead, made the questions beauty related and only have 4 questions. Good idea huh?

1) How old were you when you first started to wear make up?
I was 13 and Lord knows when I wore make up at that time, it was a mess.

2) What was your first cosmetic item(s) you purchased?
Since back then I would wear all my sister’s and mom’s make up (hah), I bought my first lipstick at Sephora when I was 12. I never really wore it out, I just played with it at home. It was purple, lol.

3) What did you wear when you first started to get into make up?
I wore eyeliner, mascara, foundation, and lipgloss. I went to a really small catholic school during that time and they forbid make up. I only wore foundation and lip balm. It was actucally torture.

4) Did you get in trouble for wearing make up?
YEAH! From my parents and my school (because some days I didn’t care and I just wanted to rebel). They would let me off easy tho.

If you want to contribute any questions to the Beauty Friday 4’s, e-mail them to facesbyprecious@yahoo.com.
Im not sure if I’m going to do these every week but, I will certainly try ;].
Have a great weekend!♥

No rules to make up but..

October 16, 2007

..there are just some things that should be avoided!

Clashy make up.
Bright eyeshadow + bright blush + bright lip colors = disastrous.
Don’t try to pull off all of those looks at once. Try to choose one area that you want to draw the most attention to. Keep the rest of your make up mute.

Extremely heavy black eyeliner.
Save this look for the rockers and metal-heads (much love to them♥, I use to be one). When it comes to black eyeliner, a little bit goes a long way. If you aren’t a fan of black, try a softer shade like a brown, navy, or even a grey.

Obvious lipliner.
Chances are when everyone can see you’re wearing lipliner from a mile away…your lipliner is way too dark. Try to find a lipliner that is the same shade as your lip color you’re using. You can also try a slightly darker lipliner in the same color family as the lip color you’re wearing. This will help define your lips even more.

Too dark/harsh looking eyebrows.
Nothing is flattering when your brows are too dark. Harsh eyebrows will make you look hard and sometimes make you unapproachable. Eyebrows can make or break your overall make up look. For light haired women, shade your brows with a color that is 1-2 shades darker than your hair color. For dark haired women, shade your brows a color that is 1-2 shades lighter than your hair color. I find that using a matte eyeshadow on my brows makes for a more natural looking eyebrows.

My Top Beauty Secrets

October 15, 2007

Exposing some of my very own personal beauty secrets I share with my friends, family, and clients. Enjoy!

Have oily roots?
My favorite trick for making my hair look good between washes is using baby powder on my roots. I’m sure you’ve all heard it before but, it really works!

Using hair conditioner as a mock shaving cream/gel.
I don’t like shaving cream/gels because I’m allergic to most of them. I opt for a regular hair conditioner as my mock shaving cream/gel for smoother softer skin.

Like wearing cream eyeshadows but, hate the creasing?
Apply a translucent loose powder on top. This will help prevent major creasing. Also, try to look for cream eyeshadow with a cream to powder finish.

Intensify your eyeliner.
If you use a cream/gel like eyeliner from a pot, dip a pencil eyeliner that is similiar in color in the pot and apply it to your lower waterline. What this does is makes the color intensify even more and prolongs the staying power of your eyeliner on your waterline.

Don’t have concealer on hand?
Don’t frat, just use the foundation (from a liquid form) that is in the cap of the container as a concealer. The foundation under the cap is thicker in consistency and makes a great concealer.

New to liquid eyeliner?
Apply a pencil eyeliner first as a guide and then, apply your liquid eyeliner on top.

Don’t half step, do it all.
If you are going to wear full on make up (eyeshadows, eyeliner, mascara, lip color), don’t forget the rest of your face! Wearing eye make up without foundation can actucally make your blemishes more obvious and stand out more. Don’t skip it if you need it. Check out Frappelattes for a DIY tinted moisturizer if you’re not a fan of wearing thick foundations.

Ps; Sorry for the lack of updates and comments! I’ve been super busy. I’ll try to post as much as I can but, I think a mini hiatus may be my second option.

Spotlight Product ; NAO never accept ordinary® Mascara in Carbon

October 12, 2007

I decided to try out NAO’s mascara and give my favorite Artistry mascara a break. I’m glad I did, this stuff is wonderful. NAO’s mascara seperates my lashes, thickens them, and no matter how much you apply..no clumps. One of my favorite tricks to thicken up eyelashes even more is by applying a loose powder on your lashes after the first coat of mascara and re-apply your NAO mascara. The mascara has the right consistency. It’s creamy and not too thick. NAO’s mascara is only $15.95 and that’s a steal considering how great the quality is. Don’t forget to check out NAO’s eye color duos, eye color singles, and the loose mineral pigments. If you want to make a bold statement and never accepts ordinary® when it comes to your make up, this cosmetic line is just for you.
